Okey-dokey, so what's been goin on?

Well you'll have to forgive me for the lack of updates since August as I've been flat out working. Theatre, film, writing and research - it's been hectic!!

Paul Burke's "War of the Roses III" went off like a firecracker and received a 5 star review in the Irish Times with a special mention for my own "virtuoso eye-gouging". The show was again an outdoor affair, but this year we opted for an after-dark experience with a fantastic lighting installation and an almighty downpour from the heavens above to add that epic touch. All the stops were pulled out this year and we showed off in style with 3-on-1 sword fights, muskets, hangings and a cannon!

Then in The Dublin Theatre Festival I took part in The Performance Corporation's surprise show. Taking it's lead from flash mobs a large number of daring thespians took to the Ilac Centre and on the stroke of 3, locked lips and kissed for three minutes! Not the most difficult of parts to play (though I suppose that depends on your partner!) but a great time had by all and a fantastic reaction and reception from the gob-smacked shopping audience...

Just returned from Sligo, I had a fantastic time filming with Conor McDermottroe on his debut feature "Occi Vs The World". An Irish/German co-production with Film Board support, it tells the tale of Occi, a young man with an uncontrollable rage that leads him down a dangerous path. And for my sins I crossed him and felt his wrath! Extra kudos go to Alex the German DoP who is shooting the film on a prototype lens that he's designed and built himself - the world's only anamorphic zoom lens for s16!

I've now signed the dotted line (it was actually solid) for "Shaolin Z", the action horror from German director Juliane Block, to shoot in Hong Kong in the spring with myself in the lead role. I'm really looking forward to this one - Asia here I come!

Writing has been sporadic but solid with some great advances made in some of my long-running projects, and I've locked a number of exciting new episodes in my web/shorts series. First drafts of a couple of commissioned scripts are now on the desks of their commissioners and I await instruction for rejiggery...

But that's all for now, get back to work and I'll have more for you soon!
